After the February 6, 2023 earthquake, a lottery ceremony was held for the distribution of 404 earthquake houses built for the needy in Nurdağı district of Gaziantep and Battalgazi district of Malatya.
Our President Haluk Levent, Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services Zafer Tarıkdaroğlu and AFAD officials attended the lottery ceremony at the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
Speaking before the draw ceremony, Ahbap Association founder and singer Haluk Levent said, "There is nothing much to say. We have done something that is our duty as an association."
Giving information about how the idea of building a house came about, Levent said:
"The state is already doing its best, building thousands of houses. 'Is there a gap there? For example, can we do something outside of the legislation?' and we applied to the Ministry of Interior. They said, 'Yes, you can build houses, but you can do something for those who are not eligible, such as the disabled, families of martyrs and the needy and elderly. Inspired by this, we agreed with AFAD"
Stating that he was experiencing one of the most honorable and happy days after the earthquakes, Levent said, "Finally, something came out of our hands. They will have the right to use these for life. Families there who have disabled children but cannot be entitled, who do not have a house but whose children have cerebral palsy, autism, SMA disease or who are disabled will settle there in Ahbap residences and will have the right to use it for life."
The ceremony ended with a souvenir photo after the speeches and the drawing of lots.
